It's finally here πŸ™Œ

You can now link your MyFitnessPal account directly to your TrueCoach account with a few easy steps. Click here for step by step instructions on how to get your MyFitnessPal account setup and linked to TrueCoach.

Below are some troubleshooting steps for scenarios you may encounter while using MyFitnessPal in TrueCoach, as well as what to expect.

What to Expect

Now that TrueCoach supports MyFitnessPal, the data from your MyFitnessPal account will be sent over to your TrueCoach account every few minutes. Keep this in mind when you don't immediately see your numbers in TrueCoach.

In addition to that, you can backdate your nutrition entries if you happen to miss a day. For example, say you took a day off and did not get a chance to record your MyFitness Pal entries - not a big deal at all! You can go back and record past nutrition info at any point in time.

Manual Macro Entry

Once you have linked your MyFitnessPal account, you will no longer manually record your results in TrueCoach. You will still have the option to add notes and upload files, but you will not be able to type in your macros within TrueCoach, as that will now be coming directly from your MyFitnessPal account.

Troubleshooting

If you run into issues with MyFitnessPal (i.e. errors syncing, frequent crashes or system failures), the first thing to check is if the MyFitnessPal app is experiencing any issues. To do that, you can click here to view the MyFitnessPal status page. If you see any issues reported on that page, it may be causing the problem. If that's the case, there are a few options you could try:

Option 1 - Disconnect and reconnect your MyFitnessPal account within TrueCoach

To do this, you will login to your client account via web browser (TrueCoach.co) and click the Nutrition icon at the top of the page. From there, you will see the MyFitnessPal window at the top with either a "Connected" or "Not connected" tag next to it. If you are already connected, you will see the option to "Disconnect MyFitnessPal", which you can click to disconnect your MyFitnessPal account. You can then refresh your page and reconnect again, which should push your most current data through.

Option 2 - Make sure your Diary is set to Public from your MyFitnessPal account

To check your Diary settings, you can open your MyFitnessPal app and click the "More" button on the bottom right. From there, scroll down to click on the settings tab. Once you are in your settings, you will see a "Sharing and Privacy" option to click, and there will be another option for "Diary Sharing". Once in the Diary Sharing menu, set it to "Public".

Diary Sharing- Log into MFP > "More" > "Settings" > "Sharing and Privacy" > "Diary Sharing" > Set to "Public"

Option 3 - Check the Minimum Daily Calorie goal

If you notice that your MyFitnessPal data is not syncing, you may want to check your minimum calorie goal. MyFitnessPal automatically has a minimum daily calorie goal of 1,200 calories per day for women and 1,500 calories per day for men. These minimums are based on recommendations from the National Institute of Health and are in place to ensure that those who use MyFitnessPal to lose weight do so safely and get enough nutrition value from their diet. With that being said, you will want to ensure that the data you are trying to sync meets the 1200 calorie minimum for women and the 1500 calorie minimum for men.

Option 4 - Upload your entries through the MFP website.

Our development team recommends clients to upload all food entries and data through the MFP website for an easier integration transfer process. The results will save faster and show in TrueCoach quicker than through the MFP app.

If you do choose to upload your entries through the MFP app, please ensure the username/email/personal information match with the account you linked to TrueCoach.

There is a known issue where the MFP app will create a secondary account for you with the same email and this will not transfer food entry data to the TrueCoach app.

Option 5 - Ensure the email you use for TrueCoach and MyFitnessPal match.

Sometimes if you register two different emails the integration will have issues pairing together. Please ensure you use the same email for both TrueCoach and MFP.
